Exodus 11:7 But not a dog shall growl against any of the people of Israel, either man or beast, that you may know that the LORD makes a distinction between Egypt and Israel. ESV

I always missed having a dog. For years I asked my husband, if I could have a dog. His answer was always the same and it was not what I wanted to hear. Finally, I told him I was taking this to God.

And I prayed and asked for a dog.

and God said, “Yes.” I thanked Him and now for the real test, I asked God to have my husband allow it. I went to him and miracle of miracles, he said, “Yes” too.

There was a sign across the street I hadn’t seen before. It said “FREE DOG.” It was Saturday evening. I thought, “I better not go now. They might be going out.” Sunday morning. “I better not go now. They might be sleeping.” Before church, I finally went to ask about the dog. The owner’s daughter took me to see the dog.

Blackie was lying in the dirt, under a piece of tin, all tangled up in a chain. He couldn’t move. He just looked at me with pleading, puppy dog eyes while his tail thumped furiously. He is a black lab and Chou mix so he has the build and temperament of a Labrador, but the long thick double coat hair of a Chou. I absolutely did not want a long haired dog….. but I was hooked. He won me with the puppy dog eyes.

I took Blackie home to show my husband. When the dog saw my horse, Star, he stopped and pointed like a retriever. He is a faithful companion and loving friend. He wants to explore, and he thinks everyone is his friend, he is oblivious to rejection.

I changed his name from Blackie to Blessing, for he truly is a blessing to me. And life is good when the Christ is in it. May you have your heart’s desire today. Shalom.
